It’s great to see Orion rising above the houses again - truly the sign that Winter is here. Last night was the first fully clear night for as long as I can remember and with reasonable seeing to boot!

Here is the belt of Orion, the Horsehead Nebula (B33) and Flame Nebula (NGC 2024) either side of Alnitak (the lowest of the three belt stars), the huge hydrogen alpha cloud (IC 434) centred on Sigma Orionis which makes the horse head visible and then below that the Running Man Nebula (NGC 1977) as the top of the sword and the Great Orion Nebula (M42) which makes the centre of the sword. Unfortunately the third element of the sword is out of frame.

Only 1h55 of exposure but it just about gets away with it because the subject is so bright. 2/3 of the frames were discarded due to eccentric stars and bad tracking, the first time this has been so noticeable using the AzGTi in EQ mode.
