This is another experiment on the feasibility of using an F12 scope for deep sky imaging. I have deliberately chosen an object close to the zenith which should remain visible for some time with the aim of completing a multi-night image before the end of galaxy season. The altitude will decline as we enter the month of June so the next two weeks hold the key to its completion.

Also visible lower right is the 12th magnitude galaxy NGC4248 which is slightly more distant (24m vs 22m light-years) and much smaller than M106.

Notes

11th May 2023 This evening was reasonably transparent but at times became a little milky with high cloud causing a number of sub-frames to be disacarded. Tracking was generally good in the 0.4" - 0.6" region which is necessary with this scope of 1836mm focal length.
