Notes
15th December 2022 Another superb clear night which was warmer than yesterday reaching -4.5°C. One of the very best imaging nights with a total of 20h30m data gathered with two rigs! I have plenty of data now so time to process the result.
Integration time 200PDS (running total):
* OSC 124 X 300s (620m)
* Total: 10h20m
14th December 2022 Carrying on this with the 200PDS and the (totally fantatsic!) NINA slew, centre and rotate function. Guiding is once again being awful so I have changed to North only which is keeping the RMS to around 0.8"/px. The stars are nice and round so I am not too concerned for now but I think I have substantial declination backlash to iron out. Hoping to get around 7 hours of exposure tonight under a clear sky. Temperature at 10pm is -5.2°C. Last night went down to -10.5°C at its lowest.
Integration time 200PDS (running total):
* OSC 82 X 300s (410m)
* Total: 6h50m
24th November 2022 A lovely clear evening and quite unexpected.
20th November 2022 This evening proved to be a mixture of good points and bad. The bad was the annoying cloud which marred at least half of the subs (the three hours will be reduced to 1h30 I think). The good was the superb guiding (sub 0.2" and as low as 0.12" for extended periods) and the ease of use of the new QHY268C. Using the PEC algorithm for RA guiding seems to yield excellent results. Occasional spikes in Dec I think were the result of the terrible transparency and humidity (98% @ 2.3°C). The FWHM of 3.2 at best was oddly high but again maybe higher than expected due to the atmosphere. Nevertheless, the stars in the good subs were nicely round and tight. I might need to check the back focus which may be a fraction too short as the extreme edge stars display a very slight elongation at magnification above 100%. Need to check if I have some very thin spacers and retest.
